I did work at mimi for few month, during the same time that Eva-Maria was there. I did work in a holacratic company prior to that. And I am working in a holacratic company now.

My experience: mimi did operate on a system called Holacracy that has not much in common with Holacracy as it is meant to be.

  • Though there was a circle structure, most meetings turned into all-hands meetings
  • the whole process was not purpose driven, meaning that tacticals werent used to identify in which role’s purpose a tensions falls in. Rather all meeting attendees would vote for solutions — and as said: pretty much all meetings ended up as all hands meetings. People unable or unaware to solve something would influence the decisions taken.
  • I did organize some workshops for improving holacratic processes. There I mentioned that transparency and honesty are key for Holacracy. After that I was taken aside by some of the animals on top. I was told that it is company’s policy to only give the best possible feedback.
